The Women’s Health Alliance (Guelph Wellington) is presenting the 5th annual Women’s Health Forum. The Women’s Health Alliance (Guelph Wellington) is a group of community partners committed to a collective vision where women are able to access and receive medical and social services without facing barriers.
To achieve this vision the Women’s Health Alliance has facilitated an annual health forum during International Women’s Week. This forum provides a space for community members and service providers to learn and collaborate on issues surrounding women’s health.
The topic for the March forum is Women and Violence- Supporting Survivors. Featured keynote speakers will include Linzy Bonham who is a psychotherapist and a social worker in the Guelph community. She will present information on how to support someone who has survived violence. Judah Oudshoorn, a lecturer and PhD candidate will be presenting on restorative justice and healing at the community level.
The forum will also involve hearing from speakers with lived experience. The forum will include an afternoon workshop presented by Dr. Ruth Neustifter on embodying self-care which is relevant to both community members and service providers.
The Women’s Health Forum will take place March 9. The Forum will be held at Innovation Guelph (111 Farquhar St.) and the day kicks off at 8:45 am. The cost of the forum is $20, which includes lunch, but this fee can be waived for people with financial barriers. The forum is open to everyone. Transportation and childcare assistance is available upon request and the space is wheelchair accessible and has an all gender washroom.
